The Journey Continues

Now that we're back in Canada, it doesn't feel like we have many interesting things to blog about anymore! Thus the huge time lapse between the last post and this one. However, I don't feel like our "journey" is over now. Sure, we're no longer in Indo, but there is still a lot of adventure to be had in this amazing country of ours! So, if you're still interested in reading, I'll keep writing...

A walk through the forest at Golden Ears Provincial Park.

Over the past 6 weeks or so, we have spent a lot of time with people. We went to Black Creek for an amazing debrief time right after we arrived, then spent some time with Mom & Dad Phillips. We've also been up to Westbank visiting my brother and sister-in-law & their kidlets, been to Lone Butte, visiting Mom & Dad Neufeld, hung out with the other siblings in the Lower Mainland, caught up with some friends, back to the Island and Port McNeil to catch up with the Sorensens. In between we've been sleeping lots, relaxing lots, done a bit of shopping, fishing and exploring. Meanwhile, Russ is patiently waiting for hunting season to open....

Fishing at Howard Lake near Canim, and below, the Loon that followed us around the lake.

We've also been reflecting a bit on our time in Indonesia and starting to adjust back to life here. For the most part, it's very easy to adjust to running water, orderly traffic and no mosquito tent! But occasionally, certain things will just strike us in a new way - like the other day when we had turned on the dishwasher, turned on the washing machine and then sat down to watch TV. Our dishes and clothes being washed simultaneously while we were just sitting around!! I want you all to know how EASY daily life things are here. It's nice to be back.

Sometimes, though, it's strange to think about the fact that our team in Indonesia is still back there in the same place that we came from, fighting the same battles and slowly reaching the set goals. I actually can't really imagine myself back there anymore, as weird as that is! Our experiences there, naturally, deeply affected us and it's hard to put these things into words, but we do feel blessed to be able to take the time to heal from those experiences and move forward in a healthy and restorative way.

A little Black Bear we saw at the side of the road in the North Island.

A bucket full of wild Huckleberries and Salal Berries. Mmmm!!
